ART SUNDAY

Today my ART SUNDAY is about Hindi Film Music.... Because I want to continue my musical blogs...LOL Hey I LOVE MUSIC....!!! Specially Hindi film songs, mostly oldies and soft romantic songs.... but sometimes I like fast songs too...! You all can see my previous blogs for my choice of songs.. I mostly like the songs with beautiful words! Yes for me lyrics are also important!! But I like some songs just for music, some songs just for performances of my fav. actor & actresses. And some for foot-tapping music means party songs type....So here, I like this song for music basically...This is "SEXY" song .... You can say a kind of "Cabaret Dance"( I hope I spelled it right! LOL) So enjoy this video.

About Film : In this film, main female lead can be seen sitting on table. Her name is Asha Parekh. Hero was Jitendra. Here dancing girl is a professional dancer ( means she has learned classical dances too!) Her name is Helen. She is basically from Myanmar ( old name Brahmadesh- capital city is Rangoon..) She came to India in may be between 1950-60 and stayed here! She has been respected for her "Sensual but not Vulgar" dances. Music for this film is composed by Rahul Dev Burman and singer is Asha Bhosle & Rahul Dev Burman himself ! Later they both got married. Asha was elder than Rahuldev Burman and she was divorcee too. Now Asha is still singing at the age of 60!!!! She has got MTV Awards too....and her hubby, this music director is no more ....By the way the "MONICA" in this song is not that "Bill Clinton's", it is the name of dancer in film......LOL

About Film : As you are watching, it is black & white movie so itself shows that it is another golden oldie may be of 1940-50! I was not even born at that time..LOL But hey I just LOVE this song... if you observe the song nicely ( English Script) then you will find rhyming words in the lines ...This form of poetry called "GHAZAL" and mostly written in "URDU" language. Now it is written in other languages too like "Marathi" or "Hindi" etc... There used to be "Mushayara" means gathering of all poets at palace at the time of Mughal or Moghal kingdom in our country ( early days...) and performing at king's palace was an honor! A sort of lamp or candle used to be lightened up and that lamp or candle is to be put infront of a person who used to sing ( mostly sing and rarely read) his poetry then he used to pass that lamp or candle to next person who used to sing next...in this way this program used to happen and when king used to be very happy with someone's poetry he used to give him prize! This lamp or candle used to call "SHAMA" Means if somebody puts shama infront of you, you will sing your poem...that was the way to perform.... Now about movie, name "Sangdil" means "heartless" the lead actor is called a "king of acting" here named "Dilipkumar aka Yusuf Khan" ( Just like your "GODFATHER" actor) Dilipkumar was also known as "Tragedy King" of the films ! Now he doesn't act anymore but still alive. That "shy"Actress here is Nimmi, now this actress acts sometimes in films and more often in TV serials as Granny! ( Mostly comedy roles) LOL Hey, here still girls or women do have that virtue called "shyness" ( Even I too have!!!) if somebody praises we do feel the same shyness as this actress is feeling here... Musical instrument in film is called "Sitar" and if you know an Indian classical Sitar player "Ravi Shankar" stays in USA. His both daughters are famous - Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar! Both girls are in Music field. Here this singer is also my fav. called Late "Talat Mehmood" he had a kind of shaking type of voice... and he mostly used to sings film-ghazals! As usual its SOFT ROMANTIC song!!! Very soothing type...best to listen in alone and that too in night with no lights on & with closed eyes..! As if your soul is mixed with that song too... Aww...I listen songs like this every night :) ( It helps me to get a nice & sound sleep...!)

About Film : I did not like this video ( in Sandy's language, it sucks! lol) Because I don't like hero & heroine both... but I love this song & it's meaning and music...This film was not so hit film but this song was superhit song... Male lead I don't remember his name ( may be because he did not have any hit film by his name...lol you can guess that by looking at him too...hahahaha. That girl is also not so much hit as solo female lead but still well known face called "Simi Garewal" now must be in her 60s but well maintained herself ! Now a days she hosts "Talk shows" kind of having interviews of celebrities ! Hey let me tell you the dress girl is wearing is called "Saree" which I am having many but I rarely use...LOL There is one more thing about Indians is, here we prefer not to say "GOOD BYE" ( now younger generation don't follow this..! but old folks still follow...) but we say "I come ..." or "I will come..." it's a kind of "see u soon"!

What age did you like best: Young age ! Canâ€™t say particular age because hey my days of college were The Best ! ( means sweet 16 to 21)
Where were you when 911 happened: Of course I was not at World Towerâ€¦!!! sheeesh, I mean I was at home.

Awwww I am very glad that at least I can share first Hindi film song with you allâ€¦ THANKS ( very small word for her) to SANDY DARLING !!! She suggested me to try Google video site and I found one of my favorite song!!!! WHOOT WHOOT SANDYâ€¦But sad part is actually this song is not complete & it is not having even original hero & heroine hereâ€¦. Some Sanjay Sharma made this video ( may be he himself acting as hero! Donâ€™t know..LOL) The main thing is SONG!!! I have not high speed network here so could not hear it properly, I hope you can hear it properlyâ€¦

My choice of songs are mostly with touchy words (great & which touches the heart..) and nice musicâ€¦ (it doesnâ€™t mean I hate fast songs, I enjoy them tooâ€¦I enjoy all kind of music, but prefer SOFT ROMANTIC MUSIC most with happy or sad mood ! ( Sad mood romantic songs make me cry alwaysâ€¦, when I listen them alone..! What? What about happy mood romantic songs? They make my heart beats faster hahahahaâ€¦)

Film â€“ Aandhi ( means â€œStormâ€) This film story in short â€“ A girl has politician family and boy is very simple guy. They got marry ( love marriage, I have to mention this because here â€œarranged marriageâ€ is another type of marriage available ..lol) Now due to her family expectations and her career-oriented nature gets her separated from her hubby & kid..and she gets involved actively in politics and you all know itâ€™s dirty fieldâ€¦ her hubby faces some problems like people used to talk bad about his wife and he fought with them sort of â€¦After so many years, finally she became Prime Minister of the countryâ€¦. And accidently met hubby one night where she had to wait for sometime till her transportation arrivesâ€¦ this song is in the garden ( avoiding the word â€œPARKâ€ point to be noted downâ€¦hahahaha) They both are old nowâ€¦ and want to say so much to each other, ask so much to each other but they both are very quiet and this song is back-ground songâ€¦ as if their eyes are saying this to each otherâ€¦and finally song ends and she gets in her vehicle and leaves the place & memories behindâ€¦.

I had cried here watching this song in film.. ( Yeah, so â€œsentiâ€ I amâ€¦!!! â€œsentiâ€=sentimental â€¦I always drop half of it LOL) ) People used to say this story was somewhat based on our then real life Prime Minister Indira Gandhiâ€¦I donâ€™t know whether its true or not..!!

Here is the meaning of songâ€¦ See my English is poor but I still tried to translate this song in English but hey, real essence of it, is excellent in original oneâ€¦means as Hindiâ€¦ Translations are basically to understand , but to feel something in real sense, you must know the language itselfâ€¦ ( itâ€™s just my opinion..)
