Today I would like to tell you about a festival for BROTHER and SISTER which will be celebrated here on 28th August. You have heard about Mothers Day or Fathers Day, similarly we have BROTHER & SISTERS DAY since long long ago. I think even before Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, & it is called “RAKSHA BANDHANâ€! Here Raksha means protection and Bandhan means Bond…so you can say it is a bond of protection OR a promise of protection from brother to sister.

I still remember, while in college, most of the boys used to take compulsory holiday for this day! LOL Because who so ever girl they had tried to flirt with or teased (eve-teasing) a lot, there were more chances that same girl will tie the thread (rakhi) on their wrists and will make them brothers…and then they will have to stop flirting with her or teasing her… hahaha. I have seen many ONE-SIDED budding love stories had ended with this festival during our college days… LOL So naughty youngsters or flirt youngsters avoid going to college on this day!
